Pandemic pREparedness engaging Primary cARe and Emergency Departments

PREPARED is a multi-faceted initiative that engages primary care clinics and emergency departments across Canada to improve patient care, health system efficiency, and Canada's national response to pandemics.
PREPARED will:
- Enhance surveillance by creating a system to alert government agencies and researchers of new pathogens
- Accelerate biomanufacturing by providing real-time samples for faster vaccine, treatment and diagnostic development
- Facilitate linkage to clinical trials
In addition to shielding Canada against future health emergencies, PREPARED will launch a Talent Development Program to guide the next generation of primary care, emergency care, and public health professionals. The program equips trainees with the knowledge and practical skills to understand, monitor, manage and combat pandemics and emerging health threats. Learning streams focus on surveillance, data science, implementation science, and community-based participatory research.
